Contrary to aircraft legal safety standards I was allocated a seat with a broken back. It would not lock in the vertical position (required by law) and had no damping - the seat back just flopped back into the fully reclined position. The flight attendant was notified prior to take-off. He could do nothing and as it was a full flight (he said) I had to make do with the broken seat. Myself, my wife and the couple behind us all complained that this was not a safe situation and needed resolving. The plane took off anyway. 2hrs into the flight the senior flight attendant final turned up to see what the problem was. He confirmed that the seat was broken, it required technical assistance and there was nothing he could do. What did I expect the pilot to do, turn round ho, ho! He informed that the pilot had been informed of the situation. As a pensioner I then had to do a 10 1/2hr flight with a broken seat. I ended up having to push the seat squab backwards with the back of my calves and wedge my left shoulder in the window aperture. I now have a recurring pain in my lower back. My wife's seat was broken as well. I complained to Sri Lankan airlines while in Sri Lanka given the options of either refunding our flight costs or upgrading us on the return flight. Our agent in Sri Lanka, Aitken Spence Travels, were informed and they complained directly to Sri Lankan Airlines as well. I never heard from them. On returning to uk I complained 4 times to Sri Lankan Airlines finally sending an email to their CEO. Their final offer was £100 so long as I signed a Non-disclose agreement gagging order. A total disgrace. Clearly Sri Lankan Airlines are not maintaining their aircraft correctly and do not take customer safety seriously.

There was no entertainment at all in both seats and was told they would try and rectify but never cam back. 26a had pucturs but no audio because the phone jack did not work well that's a bit of a lie it would only plug in 1 hole and the sound would disappear. Seat number 26. Nothing at all very poor and if we get dam e plain back we have the dam e seats booked ho joy

Excellent seat and good friendly old style service. Food was great so was the unlimited alcohol. Had a great sleep in the flat bed seat and was fully rejuvenated for the long 7+ hour road trip to Jaffna from Colombo airport. Had no issues with check-in or baggage collection and the air line ground staff was very helpful. In flight entertainment had reasonable choice of Tamil / Sinhala / English movies /TV shows.

A thoroughly enjoyable flight with a first class airline. The cabin crew were extremely helpful and attentive. The slight downside was the entertainment system. Mine worked OK but I found it had a somewhat counterintuitive operating system. My wife had to have hers rebooted before it would do anything, all OK eventually and if that’s all that goes wrong then it’s not really a problem

This single window facing seat in herringbone configuration gives good privacy.
Great legroom but I am slightly under 6’
A fully flat recline after a superb meal and very attentive service makes this business class a very attractive and affordable option.

Very good service from the cabin staff. Cabin manager Mangala was excellent. Very friendly. Food was excellent. Tried mixed sea food noodles which include salmon flakes. Only negative was no Sinhalese songs in entertaining system.

It’s a good location since you are very close to the door. Enter/exit are so easy. Toilets also not so far and you have an extended leg space too

was in a hering bone.The only negative is no proper premium boarding arrangements in Colombo

The aircraft is very old. Seats not very comfortable. Leg room not too bad but width of seats small.

One of the best Airlines for comfort, service and meals.
