What are the check-in options for SriLankan Airlines flights?

In the last couple of years, adhering to IATA’s Global Fast Travel program, an initiative to make air travel more convenient through advanced and extremely user-friendly technologies, SriLankan Airlines introduced several self-service check-in options:

  • Online & Mobile Check-in.
  • Self-service Check-in Kiosks.

What are the check-in deadlines for SriLankan Airlines flights?

Check-in deadlines may be different at every airport, and it is recommended that you inform yourself about the check-in deadline and honor it. Worldwide, SriLankan Airlines check-in counters generally open 3 hours prior to departure.

For an easy passage through the airport formalities, all Business Class passengers departing from Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo on SriLankan Airlines flights can use the Silk Route Departure Lounge free of charge. Still, passengers may choose to use one of the two check-in counters dedicated exclusively for SriLankan Airlines Business Class passengers.

All SriLankan Airlines check-in counters close 1 hour prior to departure for both Economy and Business Class passengers. SriLankan Airlines reserves the right to cancel your reservation if you do not comply with the check-in deadlines for your flight.

All passengers must report to the boarding gate at least 30 minutes before the departure time. SriLankan Airlines will not be liable for any loss or expense incurred due to your failure to comply with the check-in and boarding deadlines.

Online & Mobile Check-in

Passengers can check in online from 24 hours up to 2 hours before the scheduled time of departure by visiting SriLankan Airlines website for Online Check-in or through the SriLankan Airlines mobile app for Mobile Check-in. When departing from Colombo, passengers can check their baggage at a dedicated check-in counter.

Online/Mobile Check-in is not available for flights from Seychelles and the following passengers:

  • Unaccompanied Minors.
  • Pregnant mothers.
  • Wheelchair passengers.
  • Passengers who require medical or special assistance.
  • Passengers who require medical or special assistance.

When you check in online, you can print the boarding pass, email it to your email address or save it on your mobile phone. You can use one phone to display all your family’s mobile boarding passes. However, at the following airports, only boarding passes issued at the airport check-in counter are accepted, so you will have to collect your boarding pass at the check-in counter even if used Online/Mobile Check-in:

If you are traveling with hand baggage only, you are required to arrive at the departure gate at least 45 minutes before scheduled departure time.

If you are traveling with checked baggage, you must arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before scheduled departure time.

Self-service Check-in Kiosks

Self-service Check-in Kiosks are available at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Colombo. At kiosk, passengers can check-in either by entering their ticket number, booking reference or FlySmiles membership number or by scanning the barcode on the electronic ticket. To help customers who would require any assistance to complete the check-in process, SriLankan Airlines has positioned staff near the kiosks.

This check-in option also allows the passengers to select and change their seats, enter their frequent flyer information, enter passenger information by scanning the passport and print boarding passes. After checking-in at a kiosk, passengers carrying only hand luggage can proceed directly to immigration while those with checked baggage can drop their bags at the Bag Drop Counter located just a few steps away from the kiosks.
