How can I travel with my baby on SriLankan Airlines flights?

Children up to 12 years of age must travel accompanied by an adult passenger. Babies under 2 years of age may travel on an adult's lap. Each adult may hold only one infant on his lap. In order to reserve a separate seat for your baby, you must contact SriLankan Airlines.

Does SriLankan Airlines offer discounts for babies and children?

When traveling accompanied by an adult passenger, SriLankan Airlines offers the following discounts for babies and children:

  • Infants (under 2 years) who do not occupy a seat – 80-90% of the adult fare.
  • Children (2-12 years) and infants who occupy a seat – 15-25% of the adult fare.

Infant (under 2 years) are exempted from the Embarkation Tax of 3250 LKR that is levied on every departing passenger who has stayed in Sri Lanka for over 24 hours.

Infants who do not occupy a seat receive a free baggage allowance of only 10 kg of checked baggage.

Traveling with babies

SriLankan Airlines makes every effort to ensure that passengers traveling with a baby or toddler will have a safe and enjoyable flight. Diapers and medicines are available on board, and special diaper changing boards are located in selected toilets. Also, there is a well-trained and dedicated Child Care Stewardess assigned especially to take care of the kids on board. You may call on the Child Care Stewardess during the flight for any assistance you might need.

Depending on the type of aircraft operating the flight, there is a limited number of bassinets available on board:

On all SriLankan Airlines long-haul flights, a standard quantity of processed baby food is available on request. Special baby meals should be requested at the time of booking, but specific brands of milk powder and other infant food requirements must be brought onboard by the parents.
