Island Air check-in

How can I check in for an Island Air flight?

Island Air, Hawaii’s second oldest carrier, offers flights between the islands of Oahu (Honolulu), Maui (Kahului), Hawaii (Kona), and Kauai (Lihue), and one alternative to the traditional check-in counter, Web Check-in.

Which check-in time limits apply for go Airlines flights?

For flights departing from Kahului or Lihue, passengers are recommended to check in at least 120 minutes prior to scheduled departure time. For all other flights, passengers should check in at least 90 minutes prior to scheduled departure time.

Island Air will cancel the reservations of any passenger who fails to present him/herself for check-in at the ticket lifting point (where Island Air provides check-in and boarding passes for the passenger’s flight) at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time on the flight for which the reservation was made. Passengers may not be eligible for denied boarding compensation when these requirements are not met.

Web Check-in

Using Web Check-in from a computer or mobile device with Internet access, passengers may check in 24 hours in advance, but no less than 60 minutes prior to departure in just a few simple steps: Search > Verify Itinerary > Print Boarding Pass > Complete. To start searching for your itinerary, you must enter the required information: first name, last name, departure city and confirmation, credit card or e-ticket number.

Passengers who have checked in online, printed their boarding passes and only have carry-on bags can bypass check-in completely, and, with their photo ID, proceed directly through security to the boarding gate. However, passengers who have baggage to check must do so at the check-in counter. In the following circumstances, passengers must present themselves at the check-in counter:

  • A child traveling alone as Unaccompanied Minor must be accompanied to the airport of departure by a parent or responsible adult who must furnish Island Air with satisfactory evidence that the child will be met by another parent, or responsible adult upon deplaning at the child’s destination.
  • When a passenger is traveling with a pet, the customer service agent is responsible for the acceptance of pets to be carried in the passenger cabin.
  • When traveling with an infant on your lap (at no additional charge), the infant will need a boarding pass, and you will need to advise the check-in agent that you are traveling with an infant as a lap child.

Boarding

All passengers must be present at the boarding gate at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time. Island Air will cancel the reservations of any passenger who fails to present him/herself for boarding at the boarding gate at least 20 minutes before scheduled departure, provided all passengers have presented themselves at the boarding gate and boarded the aircraft, and the flight is ready for the scheduled departure.

Island Air provides seating accommodations for individuals with disabilities by allowing them to board the aircraft before other passengers. Unaccompanied Minors are given first priority when boarding and deplaning the aircraft. Island Air offer courtesy pre-boarding for families with children under the age of 5 and military personnel in uniform, as well as any passenger who may need a little more time and/or assistance in boarding the aircraft. When traveling with a child, a stroller or infant carrier exceeding the size limitations for carry-on items can be “gate-checked” (at no additional charge) to your final destination.
