What is China Eastern Airlines’ policy on pet acceptance?
China Eastern allows pets on board, but there are some specific regulations that apply to them. Live animals, regardless of their description, are not applicable to interline through check.
Fighting dogs will not be accepted for transportation under any circumstances, for safety reasons, as they may come in conflict with the other animals carried on board.
What pets are allowed in the passenger cabin and what as checked baggage?
No live animals are permitted in the passenger cabin, except for Service Dogs. Consequently, all pets, small dogs, cats and birds, will have to be checked as baggage.
What responsibilities do I have?
In order to ensure a safe and easy entrance into the country / territory of destination, make sure that you pet has all the relevant documentation required.
China Eastern Airlines will not be held responsible if your pet will be denied entrance or passage through or into any country/territory. Furthermore, the owner is the sole responsible in the event of sickness, injury or death of the animal.
Only Service Dogs are permitted in the passenger cabin, no other animals being allowed whatsoever.
All checked animals will be considered excess baggage and will be treated accordingly from the charging point of view. The total weight of the pet and its container will determine the fee that should be paid, at excess baggage rates, of course.
Passengers must apply to China Eastern Airlines an application for the carriage of small animals no later than 48 hours before departure. Application for the carriage of small animals will not be accepted if:

- Within any flight segment, the temperature is forecast to be below -12℃ (inclusive) or above 30℃ (inclusive).
- The animal is pregnant or expected to give birth within 48 hours.
- The animal is aged less than six months.
- The request is for the carriage of the following: flat-nose dogs or cats, Pit Bull Terrier, Pitbull, Tosa, Fila Brasileiro, Dogo Argentino, Samoyed.
Pets must travel in a dedicated flight carriage container that must comply with specific requirements. The total weight of the pet and container must not exceed 32 kg. The sum of the three dimensions of the container must not exceed 203 cm. Check-in procedures must be completed 90 minutes before take-off.
First of all, Service Dogs are the only animals allowed in the passenger cabin and who can accompany their owners also through interline check.
