What is Aeromexico policy on pet acceptance?
Passenger are allowed to travel with pets on Aeromexico flights, except flights to London. For an additional fee, pets may be transported in the cabin (if all conditions are met) or as checked baggage.
Which pets are allowed on Aeromexico flights?
Aeromexico will transport dogs, cats and birds.
Only dogs will be transported in the cabin. Other pets must be transported as checked baggage.
Pets in the Cabin
Each passenger, except Unaccompanied Minors, may transport only one dog in the cabin. Dogs born less than 16 weeks before the flight, as well as dogs under veterinary treatment, will not be accepted. However, dogs must be at least 4 months old for travel to the US.
Pets are allowed in the aircraft cabin on flights within Mexico (domestic flights) and to/from the US, Canada, Central and South America. Weight and size restrictions apply as follows:

The cage must be built of plastic, lined with one piece of absorbent material, and allow the dog to turn and lay down in a natural manner. It must have lateral ventilation on both sides and a metal door with latches to open and close.
Dogs must go through inspection by the Health Department and/or airport authorities. The animal must have vaccination certificate against rabies, issued within 1 month prior to the date of flight. For international flights, except for the US and Canada, a veterinary certificate issued by the Import/Export Deputy Director’s office is required, and this is the passenger’s responsibility.
Access to Premier Lounges is allowed to passengers traveling with their pets. The dog must be in a cage prior to boarding and when entering the aircraft cabin. On board, the dog shall remain inside the cage for the flight duration under the seat in front of the passenger. It is prohibited to provide food or beverages to the dog during flight.
For each dog transported in the cabin, Aeromexico will charge a fee that can only be paid at the airport and depends on route:
- 1000 MXN – domestic flights (within Mexico).
- 125 USD – international flights to/from the US, Canada, Central and South America (taxes not included).
Pets as Checked Baggage
Dogs that do not meet the conditions to be accepted in the cabin, as well as cats and birds, will be accepted as checked baggage. Transportation of snub or pug-nosed pets as checked baggage is not permitted on Aeromexico flights. These breeds may travel on Aeromexico Cargo. Also, on flights to London, all pets must travel on Aeromexico Cargo.
One pet per carrier is accepted and the weight, including the weight of the carrier, must not exceed 45 kg. Containers must comply with the specifications established in the IATA Live Animals Regulations for transporting animals by air. The maximum dimensions of the pet carrier that can be transported in the hold depends on the aircraft type:

Certified, professionally trained Service Animals which assist passengers with disabilities are allowed in the passenger cabin. Service Animals and/or Emotional Support Animals are exempt from the regulations regarding the transportation of pets in the cabin. In some cases, Aeromexico may request a certificate stating that the animal is trained to assist the passenger with disabilities. The certificate must be in your doctor’s letterhead paper and issued no more than a year before your travel date.
Transportation of animals in the passenger cabin is only allowed for Guide Dogs and some Service Animals accompanying customers with disabilities. Aeromexico will not accept animals that may pose a threat to the health or safety of passengers and crew (e.g., reptiles, spiders, ferrets, rodents, pigs, monkeys, etc.). Guide Dogs traveling with a passenger in the cabin must be clean, vaccinated and on a leash.
