Cathay Dragon Baggage and Carry-on

What is Cathay Dragon policy on carry-on baggage allowance?

On all Cathay Dragon flights, for all travel classes, all passengers (except infants) have a carry-on allowance of one cabin bag with maximum dimensions, including wheels, handles and side pockets, of 56 x 36 x 23 cm (22 x 14 x 9 in) and maximum weight depending on the travel class:

  • Economy & Premium Economy – 7 kg (15 lbs).
  • Business – 10 kg (22 lbs).
  • First – 15 kg (33 lbs).

In addition to the standard carry-on allowance, passengers may carry on board, free of charge, a small handbag, small backpack, briefcase or laptop bag with maximum dimensions of 40 x 30 x 15 cm (16 x 12 x 6 in). If cabin stowage is available, an assistive device such as a cane, walker, crutch, wheelchair, may be taken into the cabin, also free of charge.

Passengers traveling on selected routes can purchase extra checked baggage allowance and enjoy a discount of up to 10%. The Prepaid Extra Baggage service is available up to 24 hours before departure, online or by telephone, through Cathay Pacific Global Contact Center or the local reservations office. Prepaid Extra Baggage is available in blocks of 5 kg, with a maximum of 50 kg per passenger.

When connecting to/from a Cathay Pacific flight to/from/via the Americas or Auckland/Christchurch with baggage over the free baggage allowance (additional, heavier and/or larger), passengers will be charged with an additional fee.

Sporting Equipment

Sporting equipment is counted as part of the checked baggage allowance. If in excess of the standard free baggage allowance, sporting equipment is subject to the applicable standard excess baggage fees.

Baggage Service

You must file a report at Cathay Dragon’s Baggage Services Counter located at the Arrival Hall if your baggage is delayed or damaged. If you have already filed a report, you can use the file reference to trace your baggage online on the WORLDTRACER website. Cathay Dragon’s liability for any damaged, delayed or lost baggage is limited unless a higher value is declared in advance and additional charges are paid.
