1. What is the carry-on allowance?
Passengers travelling on an Air Canada or Jazz operated flights can carry one standard article with a maximum size 23cm x 40cm x 55cm/9in x 15.5in x 21.5in and a maximum weight of 10 kg/22 lbs, as well as one personal article with the same maximum weight, but smaller than 16cm x 33cm x 43cm/6in x 13in x 17in.
In addition to the above, you can carry a purse, outer garments or assistive devices.
2. What is the checked baggage allowance?
Checked baggage allowance per passenger type goes below:
- Economy Passengers: 2 bags
- Maximum Dimensions per bag 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
- Maximum Weight per bag: 50 lb/23 kg
- Star Alliance Gold Members and passengers traveling in Executive or Executive First class: 3 bags
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
- Maximum Weight per bag: 70 lb/32 kg
- Air Canada Super Elite and Elite passengers traveling in any class of service to any destination: 3 bags
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
- Maximum Weight: 70 lb/32 kg
- Lap children up to 2 years of age: 2 bags
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
- Maximum Weight: 50 lb/23 kg
- Children below 2 years of age occupying a seat: 2 bags for Economy class, 3 bags for Executive or Executive First class
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
- Maximum Weight: 50 lb/23 kg (70 lb/50 kg for Executive or Executive First class passengers)
3. What about oversized/overweight and excess luggage fees?
If your baggage exceeds your complimentary allowance (due to number, size and/or weight), you will need an additional checked baggage allowance.
Bagage that exceeds the limits below cannot be checked at the airport for transport:
- 32kg (70lb) in weight
- 292cm (115in) in size (length + width + height, wheels & handles included)
- 203cm (80in) in length

4. How does Air Canada handle special items?
Items likes surfboards or bicycles are being charged a fixed handling fee because of their size, fragility, or other features that lead to special handling requirements. This fee is $50 CAD/USD.
