History of Avanti Air

Founded in 1994 by former pilots Markus Baumann and Stefan Kissinger, Avanti Air started operations with one aircraft, a Piaggio Avanti P180.

Between 1994 and 1999, Avanti Air acquired two Beechcraft 1900C Airliner aircraft with which carried out various ACMI and Corporate Shuttle contracts for oil and gas industry.

In 1999, the company headquarters move from Frankfurt to Siegerland Airport. Avanti Air signed a contract for Crew Shuttle with Britannia Airways.

In 2002-2004, Avanti Air acquired two ATR 42 aircraft and operated scheduled flights on behalf of RSC Luftfahrtcharteragentur, AirDirect, Air Wales, Hahn Air, and Meridiana S.p.A.

In 2005, the first ATR 72 aircraft was acquired. Avanti Air became a member of ERA – European Airline Association.

The following years, Avanti Air operated scheduled, charter and cargo flights, as well as Crew and Corporate Shuttle services.

In 2010, Avanti Air obtained IOSA certification and had wet lease contract for ATR 42 andATr 72 with Air Berlin and Intersky.

In 2012, Avanti Air was the launch customer of the new state of the art ATR Full Flight Simulator for the 42-300 and 72-500 of FARNAIR Training.

In 2014, Avanti Air operated charter flights for soccer teams, artists and orchestras, as well as scheduled flights on behalf of Air Corsica and Air Alps. ATR 72 aircraft were wet leased to Air Berlin, Darwin Airlines (Etihad Regional), Intersky and Melilla Airlines / Aeronova.

In 2015, Avanti Air acquired two Fokker 100 aircraft, formerly owned by the liquidated OLT Express. While one aircraft undergone full refurbishment, the other serves as a spare parts donor. With the introduction of the Fokker 100 to its charter fleet, Avanti Air refreshed its logo and livery and also became a jet operator. So far, Avanti Air has only operated turboprop aircraft such as the Beechcraft 1900D, ATR 42 and ATR 72.

In 2016, Avanti Air acquired a second Fokker 100 aircraft and had ACMI contracts with Air France Group (HOP!) and Norwegian Air Shuttle.

In 2017, Avanti Air and Air France Group (HOP!) ACMI contract for a fix scheduled service Lourdes – Paris Orly continued. Also, Avanti Air was contracted for charter flights by the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, AC Milan, Daimler, Porsche and movie teams, as well as the Austrian tour operator Idealtours.

In 2018, both Fokker 100 aircraft undergone a cabin refurbishment and operated charter flights on behalf of the Austrian tour operator Idealtours.

No fatal accidents involving Avanti Air were registered so far.
