Due to weather en route, the flight was about 16.5 hours. The seat was surprisingly comfortable for economy class. The entertainment system was great and responsive. There was a universal power outlet and USB port at every seat. The seat itself was pleasantly soft and I didn’t find my bum sore during the flight. The recline was greater than expected and left me able to sleep decently comfortably without my head falling forward. The headrest was really nice with height and tilt adjustment and wings for leaning your head against. The width of the seat was sufficient for my narrow frame. At 6’1” the pitch was pretty tight for nearly 17 hours. If they gave you just one more inch and made the pitch 32”, it would make a world of difference. The lavatories were clean and functional. There was never a wait except at the very end when half the plane goes to the bathroom at the same time. The flight attendants were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the flight was very poorly catered and the flight attendants were profusely apologetic. They ran out of dinners and breakfasts as well as consumables like cups and trays. From the sound of it, they had tons of problems in business class too. I don’t know if that was an American problem or a catering contractor problem, but the flight attendants did a good job of trying to handle the hand they were dealt.
