JetBlue Airways Covid Rules

What is JetBlue doing to keep passengers safe during the Covid-19 pandemic?

To keep you safe and confident when flying with JetBlue during the Covid-19 pandemic, JetBlue’s multi-layered safety measures are grounded in the latest scientific information, from CDC guidance to its own infectious disease specialists:

  • Health requirements.
  • Touchless experience and more space.
  • Cleanliness.
  • Travel flexibility.

Health Requirements

Whether you travel within the US or internationally, JetBlue’s COVID-19 Info Hub offers information on destination-specific travel entry restrictions and required documentation. Also, JetBlue put together a comprehensive Travel Checklist to help you better prepare for your journey.

JetBlue teamed up with Vault to offer travelers an FDA-authorized, at-home or at-destination (the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and specific cities in Mexico), virtually supervised, saliva-based PCR COVID-19 test that gives you results within 48-72 hours. Also, JetBlue customers have access to at-airport convenient testing at XpresCheck locations in Boston (BOS), Newark (EWR), and New York (JFK).

JetBlue implemented company-wide protocols to ensure that every employee coming to work is healthy:

  • Conducting temperature checks for our customer-facing crewmembers.
  • Providing paid sick leave and additional time off programs.
  • Implementing strict protocols for reporting cases of coronavirus among employees and return to work clearance.
  • Providing disinfectant kits containing sanitizer spray and disinfectant wipes for crew use.
  • Requiring masks for all JetBlue crewmembers while at work.

In line with the TSA guidance, mask-wearing is now optional on JetBlue flights within the U.S. While no longer required, passengers and crew are welcome to continue wearing masks. Still, when traveling internationally, you should always have a mask with you in case wearing one continues to be mandatory at your destination.

Touchless Experience and More Space

For many JetBlue flights, the JetBlue mobile app and self-boarding gates can provide a touchless check-in, bag-tagging, and boarding experience. To reduce touchpoints at the airport, JetBlue encourages all customers to use the JetBlue app to check in for the flight, add bags and select a seat. At many airports, bag tags can easily be printed without having to touch the kiosk by scanning the mobile boarding pass. The boarding pass within the app can also be self-scanned for boarding. At many terminals, JetBlue has floor decals in place to mark 6 feet and help with physical distancing during boarding.

JetBlue aircraft provide the most space between each row of seats compared to any US airline. This means not only more legroom but also more distance between you and the passengers seated in front of and behind you.

To maximize safety and comfort and minimize physical interactions, JetBlue streamlined onboard service:

  • Temporarily suspension of sales of some onboard purchases like alcohol, fresh food, hot drinks, Grab & Go snacks from the Pantry, hot towel service.
  • A limited selection of free snacks, drinks, and items is available for purchase from carts in the aisle.
  • The Mint experience was adjusted combined meal and dessert on one tray with coverings on each food item, drinks served in single-use cups, etc.
  • On select aircraft, you can use your personal mobile device as a remote for the seatback screen, so that you don’t have to utilize the touchscreen functionality. Passengers are encouraged to bring their own headphones.

Cleanliness

For JetBlue, your safety is of the highest priority, so cleaning procedures ensure clean air and sanitized surfaces:

  • Inside airport terminals, common surfaces touched most often, like kiosks, help desks, and counters, are more frequently cleaned with a hospital-grade disinfectant.
  • Overnight, aircraft undergo deep cleans with the hospital-grade Sani-Cide EX3 disinfectant, which is effective against the coronavirus, with focus on surfaces that are touched most like, seat covers, armrests, and seatbelts. Lavatories and tray tables and are disinfected before every flight.
  • Electrostatic sprayers to disinfect the inside of the aircraft are used every night for enhanced disinfecting. These devices apply an electric charge to the disinfectant, allowing it to fully coat and cling to surfaces inside the aircraft that may be otherwise hard to reach by hand with traditional aerosol or pump sprays.
  • To ensure clean air inside the cabin, cabin air is completely replaced about every three minutes with approximately 50% fresh air and 50% HEPA filtered air. All aircraft are equipped with hospital-grade HEPA air filters that remove 99.97% or more of particles, bacteria, and viruses.

Travel Flexibility
