Emirates check-in

How can I check in for an Emirates flight?

When you’re flying with Emirates, besides checking in at the airport counter, you also have other easy and convenient options:

  • Online Check-in.
  • Self-Service Check-in (Dubai only).
  • Home Check-in (Dubai only).

However, at this time, due to the COVID-19-related regulations, eBoarding Pass and Mobile Boarding Pass are not available. While you can still use it, you won’t receive a boarding pass at the end of Online Check-in. Emirates will issue your boarding pass at the check‑in counter after checking the health and travel documents required by your destination.

When checking in at the airport, what deadlines apply for Emirates flights?

Emirates’ check-in counters open no less than 3 hours prior to departure. Passengers should go to the check-in counter no later than 90 minutes before the departure time and through security no later than 60 minutes before the flight departs. Boarding starts 45 minutes before scheduled departure, and the gates close 20 minutes before departure. If you arrive late, Emirates will not be able to accept you for travel.

You should allow enough time to get to your flight and take into consideration that, during busy travel periods or at airports with heightened security, you may experience longer queues.

Online Check-in

For almost all destinations across the Emirates network, you can check in online or on your phone and print your boarding pass or get a mobile boarding pass sent to your phone. Online Check-in is available for all passengers who have an e-ticket (except Unaccompanied Minors) between 48 hours and 90 minutes before departure.

Online Check-in is not available if the first flight in your itinerary is not operated by Emirates. When the first flight of your journey is operated by Qantas, you must check in online at qantas.com.

With Online Check-in, you can select the passengers you would like to check in (up to 9 passengers who are traveling together on the same booking). You can check in for all eligible flights, including return and/or onward flights, scheduled to depart within 60 hours of the outbound flight. If required by the destination country, you may be asked to enter Advanced Passenger Information during the check-in process. Before finalizing your Online Check-in, you have the option of changing seats and adding any missing Emirates Skywards numbers.

Once completed the check-in process, there are several ways of obtaining your boarding pass:

  • You will be issued an eBoarding Pass (available at most airports) for each passenger.
  • You will receive a Mobile Boarding Pass for your Emirates flight (available at select airports) on your web-enabled phone or mobile device.
  • For travel to/from some destinations, your travel documents must be verified before a boarding pass can be issued, and you won’t receive an eBoarding pass when checking-in online. You must report to the Emirates check-in counters at the airport to collect your boarding pass, taking into consideration the airport check-in deadlines. Passengers departing from the US are always required to proceed to the Emirates counters.

However, at this time, due to the COVID-19-related regulations, eBoarding Pass and Mobile Boarding Pass are not available. While you can still use it, you won’t receive a boarding pass at the end of Online Check-in. Emirates will issue your boarding pass at the check‑in counter after checking the health and travel documents required by your destination.

eBoarding Pass

At this time, due to the COVID-19-related regulations, eBoarding Pass is not available. Emirates will issue your boarding pass at the check‑in counter after checking the health and travel documents required by your destination.

When an eBoarding Pass is issued, you must print it and take it with you to the airport, allowing enough time to complete the remaining formalities. If you do not have access to a printer, you may still use Online Check-in and, after completing the check-in process online, simply proceed to the airport and present your passport and ticket at the designated online check-in desk, advising the staff that you have checked in online but do not have your receipt. In Dubai only, you may print your boarding pass at the airport Self Check-in kiosks.

The eBoarding Pass will indicate the timings for you to report at the airport (timings vary according to airport requirement). If you are checking baggage, you must arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time and drop your baggage off at the online check-in counter or bag drop counter. If you are not checking baggage, you need to arrive at the airport at least 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure.

Mobile Boarding Pass

At this time, due to the COVID-19-related regulations, Mobile Boarding Pass is not available. Emirates will issue your boarding pass at the check‑in counter after checking the health and travel documents required by your destination.

If available for your departure airport, you can receive a Mobile Boarding Pass for your Emirates flight on your web-enabled phone or mobile device. A link to your Mobile Boarding Pass will be sent either via email or SMS. Once you receive your email or SMS, you must follow the link in the message to access your Mobile Boarding Pass. You need an active internet connection on your mobile device in order to use a Mobile Boarding Pass.

If you don’t have an active internet connection all the time, you can make a screenshot and save a copy of your Mobile Boarding Pass to be scanned at the airport. You can also add your Mobile Boarding Pass to Apple Wallet.

Each boarding pass must be sent to a separate email address or mobile phone number, and each passenger must be able to display their own boarding pass independently. If there are members in your group without web-enabled devices, they can use eBoarding Passes. If you have a problem with your Mobile Boarding Pass, a paper boarding pass can be obtained at the check-in desk, or if you have already passed through Security and Immigration, at the boarding gate.

Self-Service Check-in

At Dubai International Airport, a number of self-check-in kiosks are available at Emirates Terminal 3, allowing you to check in and obtain a boarding pass without having to queue at the counter. Passengers with baggage to check in can deposit their bags at the Bag Drop. Self-check-in kiosks and Bag Drop are available when traveling to any destination except the US and Canada.

Now, the self-service check-in kiosks and bag drop machines offer a fully touchless experience. They can be completely controlled through a personal mobile device by scanning a QR code displayed. Without touching the screens, you can check in, receive your boarding pass, choose your seat on board, make payments for ancillary purchases, such as additional baggage allowance, and drop off your bags, having a safe and convenient airport experience.

Home Check-in

Home Check-in is a service that allows you to check in and check in and transport your baggage to the airport. Home Check-in can be requested up to 12 hours before departure, and an Emirates check-in agent anywhere in Dubai (home, hotel or office) between 48 and 12 hours before departure to complete the check-in formalities. Home Check-in incurs a fee of AED 250 for up to 7 pieces of luggage and AED 25 per additional piece of luggage.
