This highly efficient aircraft cruises at a speed of 870km/h, at a maximum altitude of 12500m and has a range of 10000km. In First Class and Business Class on long-distance flights, seats are equipped with laptop connections which do not even need an adapter. The entire long-haul fleet of more than 80 aircraft is to have Lufthansa FlyNet internet connection on board by spring 2007. So far, 51 of the long-haul aircraft have been equipped with FlyNet. moreThe Sky Phone enables you to make calls during a long-haul flight. The technology was developed especially for the Airbus A340 and Boeing B747 First class and Business class passengers can choose from a selection of 22 video channels, 23 radio channels and a collection of 50 CDs. In Economy class there is the same choice of radio channels. New Business class have lie-flat beds on long haul flights and a 150cm pitch. They are 2m long lie-flat beds at an angle of only 9º. Very comfortable seat. unfortunately, the inflight entertainment system is weak and was repeatedly out of order.
Restart / reboot was fruitless during 6 hr flight. Seat very comfortable, reclining made it possible to sleep for 3 hrs...

I still prefer these "lie flat" seat to the herringbone pattern used by many airlines now. They're a bit wider and allow a tall chap like me a bit more flexibility when trying to get comfortable on an overnight flight. I had good legroom at the bulkhead, which is not always the case for these seats.
Meal service was good, although one f/a got rather tense with my Polish seatmate. LH still has a slight tendency to being churlish when dealing with passengers. On the other hand, they are alw...
