Description

The Boeing B747-400 is divided into three classes and is used for high-traffic, long-haul flights from Hong Kong to destinations such as London, Frankfurt, Sydney, L.A Vancouver and New York. It is also used on high-traffic flights between Hong Kong and Taipei. There are nineteen of these planes in the fleet but there are four with this three class premium seating configuration. On the flight you will be attended by a cabin crew of 17.

Cathay Pacific Airlines are busy improving their on board facilities. One of the final aims is to provide all passengers with power ports and individual televisions. There are planes which currently have these facilities in all classes.

In Economy class the screens are inbuilt in the headrest in the seat in front and the power ports are in the base. Adjustable headrests also make the flight more comfortable.

First class passengers can enjoy the luxury of lie-flat seats with 10.4” individual screens and noise-reducing headsets. Business class passengers also have individual screens and on long-haul flights they have the extra comfort of longer pitch (60”) and adjustable lumbar support as well as individual reading lights.

What started off as near disaster turned to a happy coincidence. My flight from SGN to HKG was diverted to TPE because of bad weather over HKG. And there went my connection to Vancouver on AC! Fortunately, a very efficient purser and the ground staff with UA ensured that I had a seat on CX to my destination. Much more comfortable than the 340-300 seats that AC was running at the time on that route. Very comfortable lie flat seat with charming and efficient service from the cabin crew.
