General presentation

As of December 2010, the Air France’s fleet operated 8 Boeing B 747-400 aircrafts, with no additional ones expected to arrive in the near future. They fly to Caribbean, Indian Ocean, Africa, Asia and America. They were introduced in the 1980’s as the first wide-bodied craft able to fly long distances.
With a length of 231 ft 10 in (70.6 m) and a wingspan of 64.8 m (212 ft), the Boeing B747-400 is capable of a cruising speed of 567 mph/912 km/h . Its maximum range is 13,450 km (8,456 mi). The service ceiling of this aircraft is 35,000 ft (10,500 m).
An additional € 50 are charged to reserve a seat on the Upper Deck (rows 60-69), for taking advantage of extra 2 in (5 cm) of legroom. The same seats are free of charge for Flying Blue Gold and Platinum passengers. The Upper Deck seats have smaller overhead storage bins compared to seats on the main deck, but extra bins along the windows and near the stairs.
Business (Première) class passengers have noise-reducing headsets, a 10.4” interactive video screen featuring a selection of films and news broadcasts, a power outlet and individual telephone. The lie flat seats have a massage function and optical fibre reading lamp. Seats recline up to 131º. There are individual screens for Economy class passengers. Some people complain about noise from the Economy section. On some destinations, Tempo classes offer outlets for your laptop computer.
Appropriate food (including breakfast, snack, lunch or dinner) and drink (non-alcoholic and alcoholic) are offered.

Seat 1B
From Boston-Logan International (BOS)
To Paris-Charles De Gaulle (CDG)

Excellent business seat, especially for a night flight. There's nothing in front of you (the cockpit is on the upper deck) and little disturbance - the galley is in the middle of the business cabin.

You lack a tiny bit of storage space due to no seat in front of you, but I rather like the TV's coming from the arm-rest and not on the seat back in front of you.

While not 100% flat bed, this felt a lot more comfortable than Air France business a few weeks back on the same route on a 777. The design looks similar, but maybe they are a touch different? This time I slept on my side without an issue.

BTW, the service was excellent (albeit boarding a little slow and the meal - while good - was not quite as high as I'd expect from business).

P.S. I missed the date field. Date flown = 11 Sep 2014

Average, fair space to stretch the legs for a economy class seat. Lucky for me that the whole central row was empty and I could lay down.
For a 11 hours 20 minutes flight time, unless you have a very good friend that you have not seen in a while, a book or a PSP with full charged batteries you will bore to death. It is a daytime flight and the infotainment sucks, just a few small LCD's on top, one film and the rest of the time off. check the photo of the emergency row seats!!

Seat 65A
From Montreal-Montréal-pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport(YUL)
To Paris-Charles De Gaulle (CDG)

Ce siège est juste en face du strapontin de l'agent de bord. La porte de secour n'entrave pas la place pour les jambes. Un petit hic, il faut se pencher un peu pour voir dans le hublot, il semble plus bas que ceux qui sont sur le pont principale.

Seat 63A
From Paris-Charles De Gaulle (CDG)
To Atlanta, GA-Hartsfield-jackson Atlanta International (ATL)

Terrific location, comfortable seat with lots of room for storage. The way to go is the upper deck!! Just so happened there were only 2 other people on the entire upper deck so I was able to stretch out and sleep to Atlanta.
