Are children allowed to travel alone on Corsair flights?

Depending on their age, children may be allowed to travel alone as Unaccompanied Minors. Corsair has set up certain procedures so that Unaccompanied Minors can travel in complete peace and safety.

At what age are children allowed to travel as Unaccompanied Minors?

Children under 4 are not allowed to travel alone. They must be accompanied by an adult over 18 years.

Children aged between 4 and 11 traveling on their own are considered by Corsair as Unaccompanied Minors, and the UM procedure is mandatory for them.

Corsair will not consider as Unaccompanied Minors children whose parents or designated responsible adult are traveling on the same flight but in a different cabin. In this case, the children and accompanying adults (parents or responsible adults) shall be put together in the same cabin.

There are no restrictions or conditions for youths aged 12 to 17 traveling alone. However, the UM procedure is available on an optional basis for the parents who want to opt for an identical service to that provided for children covered by the mandatory UM procedure.

Unaccompanied Minor Service

It is possible to opt for the UM service only on flights operated by Corsair. You cannot book tickets for Unaccompanied Minors online. You must make the booking by telephone or at a Corsair office. Promotional fares are not available to Unaccompanied Minors, which must be booked in a dedicated class of service.

At check-in, the person accompanying the child to check-in must complete a discharge of liability, stating their contact details (name, address, telephone number) and those of the person collecting the child upon arrival. The companion must stay at the airport until the aircraft takes off.

Upon boarding, a Corsair agent will take the child through the customs and security formalities. After priority boarding, the child will be left in the care of the chief flight attendant. On board, the flight crew pay particular attention to Unaccompanied Minors:

• As a safety measure, Unaccompanied Minors will be placed in a row containing at least one adult. The child is taken to their seat by a stewardess.
• A few minutes after take-off, the child will be served a hot meal on a priority basis. Also, on departure from all stopovers, a hot meal especially for children is served, accompanied by a cereal bar, a dairy product, dried fruits, and a glass of water.
• The flight crew will give out a games kit suited to the child’s age. Unaccompanied Minors can also find onboard children’s publications, as well as the airline children’s magazine, Petit Corsair. They can also watch cartoons, and animated movies during school holidays, to help them have a more enjoyable flight.
• Unaccompanied Minors can take a cat or dog with them in the cabin, as long as the animal is in a regulatory closed container, and the animal remains in its container throughout the flight.

Upon arrival, the chief flight attendant will leave your child in the care of a transfer agent, who is responsible for taking the child through the customs and security formalities, and accompanying them to the person picking them up at the destination, who must be that indicated in the discharge completed upon departure.

Fees

Depending on the obligatory or not character of the service, Corsair will charge the following fee per flight:

• €50 for the mandatory UM procedure (4-11 years of age).
• €75 per person for the optional UM procedure (12-17 years of age).
