Air Astana check-in

Is there online check-in available for Air Astana?

To avoid airport lines, you can use the Online Check-in service, available at all airports served by Air Astana.

What deadlines should be taken into consideration at the airport?

Generally, check-in ends 40 minutes before the scheduled departure for both domestic and international flights. In order to allow yourself ample time for check-in procedures and security checks, Air Astana recommends arriving at the airport at least 3 hours (international flight) and 90 minutes (domestic flight) prior to your scheduled departure.

At Delhi, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul airports, check-in closes 60 minutes before departure.

For all Air Astana flights, boarding gates close no later than 15 minutes before scheduled departure. It is important that you go to the gate well before this deadline to ensure you can travel on your flight. It can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to reach the gate from the main departure areas.

Online Check-in

Online Check-in is available from 24 hours and up to 60 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time at all departure airports in Air Astana route network. Unaccompanied Minors, passengers with an extra seat and passengers on a stretcher have to check in at the airport.

With Web Check-in, you can check in for your flight and check in passengers traveling with you, select your seat on the plane, complete your personal details required by the customs services and print your boarding pass. If you are traveling with other people who are on the same booking or even on different bookings, you can add them to check-in and be seated together. On domestic flights, boarding is on a first come, first served basis (you cannot select your seat for these flights).

On international flights, some countries customs require specific passenger data before you are allowed to enter the country. For these flights, Air Astana has to enter the data before allowing you to board the plane, and you can use Web Check-in to enter the data. You can still check in online even if you don’t have the data, but you will have to provide the data at the airport before you can obtain your boarding pass.

At the end of Online Check-in, a boarding pass is issued and sent to you as a PDF file via your e-mail. If you lack the opportunity to print the boarding pass, you can receive your boarding pass at the check-in desk at the airport before the check-in deadline.

Sometimes, security requirements forbid printing the boarding pass at home. In this case, you are still checked in, but you must collect your boarding pass at the airport:

  • Passengers traveling with an infant or children.
  • Passengers with youth fare.
  • Passengers with senior fare.
  • Passengers who agreed with the airline’s anti-fraud procedure.
  • Passengers who have Special Service Requests in their bookings.

Mobile Boarding Pass

If you are using a mobile device to check in online, you can get a Mobile Boarding Pass for flights from Almaty and Astana, as well as domestic flights from Atyrau. The Mobile Boarding Pass can be accessed while offline if saved to Passbook/Wallet application for iOS devices or Pass2U application for Android devices. If you don’t have the Pass2U app on your smartphone, you will receive an online link to the Mobile Boarding Pass.
